Red Barn has a horseback riding lesson program for all levels of riders. Our quality lesson horses and ponies are available for private lessons Tuesday through Sunday by appointment. We also offer leasing options on farm-owned horses on a limited basis.
Our horsemanship programs provide classroom and hands-on instruction in horse care and health basics, safety and handling, proper equipment use and care and other topics as requested. The sessions are held year-round and open to individuals and groups. Special winter recess, after-school and summer camp programs are available and we also welcome community group visits by appointment.
Whether you are four or forty, our trainers have the experience to give our first time riders a strong foundation on which to build their equestrian careers. With a variety of school horses and ponies to choose from, our trainers know how to pair the right horse to your riding needs.
Maybe you rode as a kid, or maybe you are returning to riding after an injury. Our trainers are familiar with the nerves and jitters that come along with getting back into the saddle. With patience and a calm, gentle touch, our trainers will go over the basics so that you can regain your confidence and/or physical riding strength to continue riding for many years to come.
Are you relocating? Do you feel like you’re not progressing? Our trainers are experts in their field and can work with you to conquer bad habits, help you break through learning plateaus and take your riding skills to the next level.
All our trainers ride competitively and the Red Barn is uniquely positioned to accompany the competitive rider and help them reach their next level. From expert instruction, to the logistics of transportation for events, to optimum horse healthcare and grooming regiments for the show horse, the Red Barn can assist you and your show horse to attain your competitive goals.
For the horse owner, we offer high quality board with training options. Our trainers can also help you with the acquisition of a horse suited to your riding skills, build a training program to match you and your horse and assist you with the schooling and exercise of your horse. In order to enhance the educational environment at Red Barn, we hold several clinics throughout the year. Clinics have featured Olympians Michael Page and Joe Fargis, international jumper rider, Bobby Ginsberg, national hunter and equitation trainer and judge, Geoff Teall, as well as horse care clinics with in-house staff. Our clinics are open to the public as well as Red Barn customers. We will list clinics as they are scheduled on this site.
Our Pony Time program is for young riders 4-5 years old. With safety in mind, the Pony Time instructor will lead the pony by hand, keeping a close distance to the pony and your child. Our Pony Time riders primarily focus on the very basics, such as balance and coordination, proper seat, how to behave around horses and some horse terminology. Our goal is to introduce the young rider to the joy of riding in a fun and safe environment.
